Although we’re currently in the middle of a heat-wave here in the midwest USA, today is the first official day of Fall! To celebrate the occasion, I thought I’d throw up a quick post highlighting some of my favorite autumn-themed, musical theatre and jazz ballads to sing and assign students throughout the season. So, grab your favorite sweater and a pumpkin spice latte, and enjoy these melancholy fall classics!

1. “AUTUMN LEAVES”

by Joseph Kosma & Johnny Mercer

2. “WHEN AUTUMN COMES”

by Frank Wildhorn & Jack Murphy

3. “SEPTEMBER SONG” FROM KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY

by Kurt Weill & Maxwell Anderson

4. “TRY TO REMEMBER” FROM THE FANTASTICKS

by Harvey Schmidt & Tom Jones

5. “AUTUMN” FROM STARTING HERE, STARTING NOW

by Richard Maltby, Jr. & David Shire

6. “WHEN OCTOBER GOES”

by Johnny Mercer & Barry Manilow

7. “AUTUMN IN NEW YORK” FROM THUMBS UP!

by Vernon Duke
