What if I told you there was a way to legally access THOUSANDS of free musical theatre cast recordings?  No, I’m not crazy.  I’m talking about a program called Spotify.  I’m sure many of you are familiar with this program by now, but you may not have thought to use it for educational purposes.  For anyone unfamiliar with the service, Spotify is a music streaming program similar to iTunes.  The main difference is that you don’t actually download music files- you stream them.  The program is currently 100% free to use, but you do have to put up with frequent ads if you utilize the free version (a premium version without ads is available as well).  I’m not sure about the program’s international availability.  It likely depends on the country.

One of the best features of Spotify is the ability to create Playlists of songs and share them with others.  I have taken advantage of this great feature and created many musical theatre and pop/rock repertoire playlists for singers, actors, teachers, directors, and others.  These playlists contain FREE recordings of various types of repertoire.  Below are links to some of the playlists I have created over the years (note: you will need to sign up for a Spotify account to use these).  I hope they help!
